VESTAL, N.Y. -- A Broome County church is heading to the Carolinas to assist families impacted by Hurricane Florence.

Family Life Church of Vestal will be deploying a team of 15 people to perform restoration and recovery.

Volunteers will assist in helping muck out homes, roof-tarping and general cleanup.

But giving back during flooding is nothing new for the church.

They formed in the spring of 2011, just before the region's own historic flood.

Since then, they've been helping cities all over the world.

"They're trying to salvage their hope, they're trying to salvage their faith. They're really trying to salvage their lives and what we really want to do is restore that hope, restore that faith and restore those lives by letting them know they're not alone," said Joe Coudriet, Family Life Church pastor.

Family Life Church will head to Boone, North Carolina next Saturday, where they'll stay for a week.
