A woman was arrested after allegedly leaving her dog outside for too long in rainy weather Monday.

Sheriff's deputies arrested 55-year-old Hazel Lafler of Savona after they say she left her dog outside in the cold and rainy weather without shelter.

They responded to her home after an anonymous report was made about the dog.

She's been charged with violating the agriculture and markets law of appropriate shelter for dogs.

Lafler is scheduled to appear in court next month.

Sheriff's deputies are reminding residents dogs must have properly enclosed and insulated shelters when being left outside during the winter months and bad weather.
