BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The sale of six county-owned properties in the city of Binghamton continue to draw controversy.

Friday morning, LLC Group Inc was awarded the contract to demolish 80 Frederick street.

With that, they also receive three properties on Montgomery Street and two on Whitney Ave.

This was the original plan all along, but the county legislature voted down the move last month.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar then declared 80 Frederick street a public safety emergency, which forces the county to take action.

Mayor Rich David is speaking out against the plan, since four of the six properties are vacant, and cant pose a safety rick.

He also says a number of entities, such as the Rescue Mission reached out, but the county ignored them.

"This is nothing more than a shady backroom deal by this county executive to steer the deal of these properties to the private company that he wanted to do this deal," said Rich David, (R) Binghamton Mayor.

"The mayor has tried everything he can do to stop that from happening," said Garnar. "I'm not sure why. The city of Binghamton is not sure why. Broome County is not sure why. I guess he can only answer that himself."

Garnar claims no other businesses reached out to purchase the building.

He says the move was all about public safety.
