There are multiple cases of animal abuse and neglect in the Southern Tier.

Tanner's Paws in Corning is taking care of a new batch of abandoned animals.

Five newborn puppies, two adult dogs and a cat were taken from a house in Corning.

Officials believe the animals may have been in the home alone for two weeks.

They have fleas and desperately needed to be cleaned. The vet is also worried the puppies are sick, possibly anemic.

A foster home has been found for the five puppies and their mother, as police continue to investigate.

Five sick kittens are getting a second chance thanks to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA.

The kittens were dropped off at the organization Wednesday in horrible condition.

They were infested with fleas and tapeworms and were extremely emaciated.

They were given a much needed bath, and the fleas removed.

With the public's help, the organization has raised $400 to care for the kittens.
