A $29 million project is giving new life to two abandoned factories in the village of Johnson City.

The old E-J Century and Sunrise buildings are now apartment buildings. Regan Development Corporation is the company behind the construction project.

Around 60 people have already moved in to the 105 available spots.

"It was great to see the buildings transform back into something the village can be proud of and people can say the old E.G. building that's great i remember my grandparents working there or my aunt and uncle working in those buildings,"  said Johnson City Mayor Greg Deemie.

Construction on the apartments is expected to wrap up within the coming weeks.
