A state of emergency is still in effect for a pair of municipalities in Broome County.

Flash flooding hit the town of Sanford and the village of Deposit Tuesday, forcing several roads to be shut down.

The Broome County executive says there is damage as a result of the rainfall. There were also basements that flooded during the storm.

Heavy rain combined with small pipes in the drainage system led to the high waters

Crews have been working to clean up the aftermath of the storm.

"Just a massive cleanup from yesterday a bunch of debris in the streets, plugged catch basins, and drain pipes," said Steve Evans of the Village of Deposit DPW

The State of Emergency went into effect at 6 p.m. Tuesday night, and remains in place until further notice.

People are being advised to use caution if you are traveling in the area.
