ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Hockey fans are getting ready to cheer on the Elmira Enforcers.

Team owner Robbie Nichols unveiled the team name and colors at First Arena.

It's meant to show respect and honor for members of law enforcement and was the top pick out of 10 choices.

“We're not the bad guys that are going to beat you up, we're the good guys and we want to be as law enforcement and that's where it came about. The 607 -- I really liked it and I saw that and coming in different cities and stuff. So our area code is obviously 607, is on our hat and that will be on a badge on the side of our sleeves. And it was just really a tribute to all the officers in the area,” said Robbie Nichols,  the Elmira enforcers owner.

Brent Clark was named the team's head coach. And the Enforcers signed their first player, a goalie from Iowa.

Their first home game is set for November 16.
