BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Farmers in Broome County now have an extra day to sell their produce.

The Broome County Regional Farmers Market is staying open on Sundays.

The move comes at an important time for farmers harvesting seasonal vegetables like corn.

For some, it was bumpy start due to a cold spring. Fortunately the recent weather has been a good mix of rain and dry periods.

Organizers say the extra day of the farmers market will help more farmers reach a larger audience.

“This is more of a waiting list market, is really what we kind of had. We don't have a lot of openings that come up for our Saturday market due to the popularity of it. We have a lot of longtime vendors there so we wanted to add another market where some people from our waiting list would get a chance to grow their businesses sooner rather than later," said Amy Willis, market manager and kitchen coordinator.

The Farmers Market will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Sunday from now until the end of September.
