ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- People in Endicott enjoyed a perfect night for a cookout. Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell hosted the free event at George W. Johnson Park.

The goal was to create relationships with people in the community. Other prosecutors and local police joined the fun.

Cornwell says it's an opportunity to learn about the communities.

"It's great to meet the people that you serve and for the people that you serve to meet you, and the other prosecutors and local police officers will be here as well. So we can start building that relationship and let them know a little bit about what we do, and see the human side of each other," the DA said.

Cornwell plans to host two more cookouts later this summer.
