BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — One of Binghamton's most unique art events is back and bigger than ever.

The LUMA Festival is in its fourth year and it now spans three days.

Known as the largest projection arts event in the country, the festival transforms downtown Binghamton into animated canvases.

The number of projectors will grow to 17 this year.

When the festival began a few years ago, about 30,000 people showed up.

The goal is to top that number and keep climbing

"It brings us together in a way that very few arts or entertainment forms do anymore," said Joshua Bernard, a LUMA co-founder. "That's one of the things we find really compelling about this particular form of art: how immersive it is, how communal it is."

The LUMA festival will be held from September 7-9.
