Merrit Beardsley, also known as Little Merrit, died from a fever in 1865.

He was just 8 years old.

His final wish: to be buried with a window because he was scared of the dark.

So, he was laid to rest with one in Beardsley Cemetery.

However, over the years the site was vandalized and the glass was shattered. This caught the attention of Stefan Foster.

He wrote a book in honor of Little Merrit and spent about 3 years fundraising to restore the grave - complete with a new window. But he didn't stop there.

He has moved on to fix other cemeteries across the state.

Foster continues to maintain Little Merrit's tomb, and is happy to see the toys and flowers left by others.

"All it takes is just walking through these small forgotten cemeteries to just take a second and embrace them and pick up a few sticks while you're there and just not forget about them," said Stefan Foster, of Norwich.

The cemetery is located off Hoben Road in Oxford.
