Condolences have been pouring in following the news of State Trooper Nicholas Clark's death.

The family of AJ Sperr, a New York State Trooper killed more than 10 years ago, says they are sending their prayers to the Clark family.

Trooper Sperr was shot and killed back in 2006 after approaching the vehicle of two suspected robbers in Chemung County.

In Rochester, Police Chief Michael Ciminelli expressed his department's sympathies to the Clark family, saying in part, “Everyone associated with this tragedy will remain in our thoughts and prayers.  This sad event reminds us of the dangers under which all police officers work to protect the community.”

Those in blue continue to reflect on the loss of their comrade including the Monroe County`s Sheriff`s office.

"As another law enforcement brother to have someone be lost like that brings you right back to when Daryl Pierson was killed and it just an horrific thing to do,” said Monroe County Undersheriff Korey Brown, a Rochester officer killed in 2014. “It’s tragic. Our hearts are bleeding for the troopers and the sheriff`s office down there and all of those involved in that job and we`re just praying for their support and for their healing and for them to get through this."

State Trooper Nicholas Clark is the 26th member of the New York State Police to be killed in the line of duty.
