It was all about the dogs at this clambake fundraiser Saturday.

People could enjoy all-you-can-eat clams, burgers, drinks, and raffles. It's all in support of the Binghamton Police K-9 unit.

Officers say despite K-9 units serving a valuable purpose, they are usually the first programs cut due to budget restrictions. The funds raised will help fund K-9 training, bulletproof vests, and tracking harnesses.

Patrolman Kevin Brown says the K-9 demonstrations are always a crowd-pleaser.

“We go over obedience with the dogs,” said Brown. “We have some obstacles for them to do. We do some of the aggression work where we put that big bite suit on and people love to see that kind of stuff and see what the dogs do, but more importantly, it's the obedience side of that, so you know, that's just part of the game they're playing and we give everybody an opportunity to see what they do and why they do it."

The Binghamton Police K-9 unit currently has four dogs that detect narcotics and two that specialize in explosives.
