Some restaurant and service workers are pushing back, worried about losing their tip income.

Earlier this year Governor Cuomo announced the possibility of eliminating the tip credit in New York State. More than 50 people rallied in Binghamton with strong opinions against the idea.

Many servers, restaurant owners and managers attended the rally, saying eliminating the credit would not help them.

"You might as well bring a bottle of water because if you want a refill you're going to have to get it yourself. Because there's going to be five people in a restaurant that has 40 tables. It's just too much. You won't get the quality of service you deserve, said Christine Evans, a server at Outback Steakhouse."

In 2016, the state of Maine passed an initiative that abolished the tip credit. However, less than a year later, the state reversed the decision after public outcry from restaurant employees.

The final day for public input is July 2nd.
