BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Years after fire destroyed their building, a Binghamton staple is finally opening in a new home.

In April of 2014, Ellis Brothers Furniture store on Water street caught fire, forcing the family to search for a new location.

The company had been in business since 1900.

Four years later, their new shop on the corner of Court and Hawley Streets is open for business.

The $3.5 million renovation of the old J-C Penny building includes 4 floors and 45,000 square feet.

"It's the light at the end of the tunnel and for once it's not a freight train. We're just elated at the fact that we're open and doing business," said Richard Ellis, Ellis Brothers Furniture Co-Owner.

The new location is open for business, but more furniture will be shipped in by Saturday.
