CORTLAND, N.Y. — The suspect in a 24-hour Cortland standoff remains in critical condition after being airlifted to a Syracuse hospital.

Cortland Police say they found 28-year-old Corey Hobart suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the bathtub of a Hampton Inn around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.

It came a day after Hobart ran from a police stop in Johnson City and barricaded himself inside the hotel with a woman and a handgun.

Police got the woman out and continued to negotiate with Hobart until they forced their way into the room.

River Street was closed off throughout the standoff.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
