An arrest at Binghamton's Transportation Center is raising new questions about how drugs are entering the Southern Tier.

30-year-old Rashi Johnson from Queens was taken into custody Tuesday after getting off the bus from New York city.

Police say 217 bags of heroin were seized.

According to prosecutors most heroin comes from Mexico, through New York City, then travels to Broome County.

Like Johnson, he says dealers are transporting it by bus, rental cars, or even mail.

D-A Steve Cornwell says while we may never know how big the drug operation was, an arrest like this sends a message.

"When the drug task force takes out a large amount of people in a short amount of time, it has absolute effect on the street. It makes it difficult to find heroin," said Steve Cornwell, Broome County District Attorney.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force will continue to monitor activity at the bus station.
