BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- One Binghamton University employee is usually directing traffic during commencement weekend. This year, he's sitting with fellow graduates.

Frank Frear received his bachelor's degree in history on Sunday.

The 49-year-old has been working toward this achievement for the past 7 years.

Despite the long days and loads of studying, Frear continued to work as a senior parking attendant at the university.

He says it was an honor to walk across the stage and be part of the class of 2018.

"To realize how I worked here for so many years and to finally just be an alumni of the university," Frear said. "Now it just feels full circle to me."

Frear has worked at the university for 21 years.

He says he's thinking about getting his master's degree next, but plans to continue working at the school for at least 5 more years.
