APALACHIN, N.Y. — The Waterman's Distillery in Apalachin officially opened its doors this weekend.

It's the first distillery in the area to offer all-natural flavored whiskey.

From jalapeno ginger to vanilla cocoa cream, the owners make a variety of flavored spirits using local products.

Now that their vision has come to life, they say it's been a humbling experience.

"I actually got a little teary-eyed," said Michelle Alig, the owner of Waterman's Distillery. "Walking around and just seeing all these people here, laughing, enjoying our product. We put so much love into every bottle and into this space; it was so much fun just to see everybody enjoying it."

The distillery is named after Fred Waterman, one of the last state troopers to patrol his entire career on horseback.
