VESTAL, N.Y. -- Days after the murder of a Binghamton University student, the school's President is addressing what's next for the campus.

19-year-old Joao Souza died after being found with stab wounds at Windham Hall Sunday night.

Fellow student, Michael Roque, now faces a second-degree murder charge.

At a news conference Friday morning, President Harvey Stenger said students, faculty and staff are still feeling the effects of the tragedy.

Stenger has instructed faculty to be considerate of students suffering from stress, allowing them extra time in classes.

He also says the university will soon begin looking at new safety procedures and reviewing the situation to learn from it.

"What's happened in this last semester makes everyone question that safety so that's why we need to start to think about why this might have happened, and are there different things that we should be doing in the future to prevent them, said Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger."

A vigil for Souza will take place Monday night at 9:30P.M. in the Mountainview section of campus.
