The Twin Tiers Honor Flight will be taking off from the Greater Binghamton Airport once again.

It's being made possible thanks to Broome County, which is donating $25,000 to fund the trip.

Some of the money came from the county's first-ever Sunset Runway 5K last year.

About 60 local veterans will get the opportunity to visit the memorials in Washington, D.C. next month.

Twin Tiers Honor Flight's director says the trip may only last a day, but it's really an experience that will last a lifetime.

"When you see those veterans coming off that plane and back into the hangar on May 12, you're going to see the smiles and the tears and you'll know that we really made a difference not just for that one day, but for the rest of their lives," said Twin Tiers Honor Flight Director Nancy Kane.

As Kane said, the Twin Tiers Honor Flight will take off on Sunday, May 12.

The organization was founded in 2014, and will take its 300th veteran to the nation's capital on this flight.
