One of the Republican candidates for governor toured parts of the Southern Tier.

Marc Molinaro stopped and walked around Corning’s Market Street.

The Dutchess county executive says the state government isn't being held accountable. He believes New York isn't as affordable as it used to be.

Molinaro says the best way to fix the state's financial issues is to bring people together to share ideas.

"I want to empower local business leaders and community leaders and residents to be involved in the decision making and I want to ensure that we're affordable again by driving down property taxes, driving down energy costs and insurance costs making it easier for families to thrive and survive,” said Molinaro.

Molinaro will face off against State Senate Deputy Majority Leader John DeFransico in the Republican primary.
