An investigation into two bank robberies in Ithaca over the last several weeks has come to an end.

Ithaca Police announced the arrest of 32-year-old Chaio Slater Saturday.

He was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop on Route 13 Friday night. He faces two counts of second-degree robbery.

He was accused of robbing the Cornell Federal Credit Union in Lansing last Wednesday.

Police said he also robbed the Tompkins Trust Company in Ithaca back on December 5.

Police also recently arrested Curt Rosenfeld, 32, for allegedly robbing two convenience stores in Ithaca and one in Dryden within a week in December.

He was charged with three counts of first degree robbery.

The taskforce was assembled just this week to help solve these crimes.

"It came together so quickly, and I guess that's just the times,” said Tompkins County Sheriff Kenneth Lansing. “Starting 45 years ago - times are a lot different. Today modern technology and men and women's training is phenomenal to keep the community safe."

Agencies that make up the task force include Ithaca Police, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Cornell University Police, the Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office, and the FBI.
