Broome County lawmakers unanimously voted to start making adjustments to tax bills Thursday after some residents in the town of Triangle were overcharged.

Due to a clerical error, 408 people received incorrect tax statements.

Since county officials discovered the oversight, they've been working hard to correct it.

"We notified tax payers as soon as we found out the error,” said Broome County Budget Director Jerome Knebel. "The town supervisor worked with us and has rectified it.”

One resident was charged nearly $5,000 more than they owed, while others were only overcharged 32 cents.
