Cornell is getting ready to welcome 62 students from the University of Puerto Rico this semester.

The college kids are headed north, as their campus is still in disrepair from Hurricane Maria.

They will be getting free tuition, room and board while they attend Cornell, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The Cornell-UPR Interuniversity Relief Program has raised $58,000 to cover the cost of books and supplies, dozens of undergrads have signed on as mentors and tutors for the newcomers, and students and alumni have been knitting hats, mittens and scarves to keep all of the students warm.

Cornell is one of only four colleges offering free tuition, room and board to UPR students -- other colleges across the country are offering in-state tuition pricing.
