BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The latest round of REDC Awards is looking to turn the LUMA Projection Arts Festival into a tourist destination.

The annual festival brings historic downtown Binghamton buildings to life through the use of high powered projection art. Last year, world-renowned projection artists from across Europe participated.

The $71,250 award will be used to advertise the event and draw in more people from across the country. But like every year, co-founder Joshua Bernard says none of this happens without support from the community.

"It does not replace the operational support that our local sponsors and our Kickstarter supporters provide. We absolutely could not do year three without you and we will not be able to do year four without you," Bernard said.

The Luma Projection Arts Festival is the largest of its kind in the U.S. Last year, more than 30,000 people attended.
