GEDDES, N.Y. — Crews are getting ready to start construction on the latest attraction at the New York State Fairgrounds.
The governor's office announced Thursday that construction on the new Expo Center will begin next month and should have it complete in time for the 2018 Fair.
The state is also taking bids for a company to book events at the facility, which is advertised as a year-round venue.
The state wants whatever company that takes over booking to have at least 20 events in the Expo Center by the end of 2019.
Three of those events need to utilize both the Expo Center and other Fairground facilities.
