SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Thanksgiving Eve is the busiest night of the year for bars and restaurants, but it has also traditionally been a busy night for police as well.

Local law enforcement and state police are cracking down on drunk driving, with several checkpoints and extra patrols this year, but with Uber and Lyft now in the city, they're hoping there will be fewer issues.

Local bar owners are pushing their patrons to utilize the ride sharing apps and plan ahead. Some spoke about how they are in full support of the apps, even helping customers to get better deals on rides.

The ride sharing apps were made available statewide this past summer.
