Officials are still trying to get to the bottom of who vandalized the Christopher Columbus statue in downtown Binghamton.

Now they're offering a $2,500 reward for any information leading to an arrest.

City officials, along with members of local Italian-American groups, made the announcement Wednesday. The statue was damaged for the second time Tuesday after being vandalized in September.

But those who originally raised money to bring this statue to the lawn of the county courthouse say these actions are hurtful.

"It's just tearing a community apart," said Binghamton Ladies Lodge President Barbara Fiala. "We should be together and celebrate all of the cultures and the rich community and heritage that we have had."

The investigation remains ongoing. You are asked to contact the Broome County DA's office at 607-778-2423.
