Officials in Binghamton are expected to talk more about the recent vandalism to the Christopher Columbus statue.

Officials say the monument's wreath was stolen and 'murderer' was written on the statue, which sits outside the Supreme Court Building.

Crews were quick to clean up the mess, having all graffiti removed by early afternoon. This is the second time the statue has been targeted in recent weeks.

"We have absolutely zero tolerance for that in Broome County. I don't care what your beliefs are; destroying property or defacing property is not the way to articulate those beliefs,” said Broome County Executive Jason Garner.

Broome County investigators continue to look into the incident and surveillance footage is being examined.
