ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- The Southern Tier is just days away from the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.
Organizers and staff are working around the clock at the En-Joie Golf Club to make last minute changes and preparations for the week. They've been busy setting up tents and concession stands.
The grounds crews have been tending to each hole daily and there's also a lot logistical needs the team has been meeting.
For example, the transportation committee has been scheduling pickups and dropoffs for athletes and their families.
Staff say the setup would not have been possible if it weren't for the dozens of volunteers who committed their time.
"Oh it's, you can't explain how important it is," said Gene Null, head of transportation. "I've been here 46 years. We've had some close to that also, but the thing is the repeat, getting back every year. Then you don't have to retrain them. They know the pitfalls, what has to be done and what's expected."
Practice rounds begin Monday, August 14th, and the big concert featuring Bon Jovi takes place Friday night.
