HORNELL, N.Y. -- Testimony continues in the trial of a Hornell man accused of killing a baby boy on Thanksgiving Day in 2015.
Dakota Miller, 23, has been charged with murder.
Prosecutors say he beat his girlfriend's 17-month-old son, Ian Maniski-Huff to death.
Many family members took the stand, Monday, to help paint a time line for jurors.
Ian's grandfather, Louis Baker was among them -- the only other adult home during the time of the alleged incident.
Louis said he was in his room watching TV while Dakota was watching Ian. He said around 9:30 p.m. he heard the baby crying. Minutes later, Baker said Dakota came out of the bedroom saying Ian had thrown up.
Baker then checked on him, thinking he was OK and just sleeping.
He then fought back tears in the courtroom, saying when his daughter Codie came home around 10:30 p.m., she found Ian non-responsive.
Jurors were shown photos of Ian, showing red bruises and bite marks literally from head to toe.
An emergency physician testified that his injuries were disturbing even for professionals.
Finally Dakota's mother, step father and step brother, who were all with Ian earlier that day took the stand.
"They show us that Ian was absolutely healthy when he went into Dakota's custody. That's the most important thing, that none of these are pre-existing injuries," said Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker. "There's no way for the defense to argue Ian got hurt some place else or carried these bruises throughout his body from some place else."
Court continues Tuesday when Ian's mother, Codie Baker, is expected to take the stand.
Medical experts who worked on him at Strong Memorial Hospital are also expected to speak.
