VESTAL, N.Y. -- As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, one local group spent the last few days of October raising money in a unique way.

Traci's Foundation hosted its 5th annual "Brassieres For Hope" Sunday. The group auctioned off gift baskets and decorated bras. All proceeds go towards the foundation in their support to fight breast cancer.

Traci's Foundation is named after Traci Gibson who died from breast cancer at age 31.

Organizers say the community support has helped keep her memory alive.

"Overwhelming! The community has been, it's just amazing how many people reached out to me wanting to do baskets. It started out with the bra theme. That was my whole idea of decorating them because Traci liked to do crafts too and I just wanted to carry it on in her name,” said Teri Bower, the Brassieres For Hope organizer.

Last year, Traci's Foundation raised more than four thousand dollars at the event.
