WINDSOR, N.Y. -- To say that parking is a problem in the village of Windsor would be an understatement.
Currently, Main Street has just one public lot, but village leaders have found a solution to their problem in the form of a vacant, blighted building.
117-and a half Main Street is scheduled to be torn down and the lot paved over making way for 25 parking spots.
The multi-family home has been vacant for years, but the village of Windsor hasn't had the funding to do the project themselves.
Now, with the help of the Broome County Land Bank their vision is becoming a reality.
"There's only one other parking space, or public parking spot in this village, down by the community house," Windsor Mayor Ron Harting said. "Many times that is absolutely full, because it is adjacent to the churches and the village green, so this is vital. "
The demolition and paving project is expected to cost about $50,000. The village is currently taking bids for the project.
