BATH, N.Y. -- Steuben County law enforcement launched several pre-dawn raids to nab eight suspected drug dealers.

Steuben County's Sheriff and District Attorney announced the arrests at a news conference in Bath.

Officials say the arrests were the result of "Operation Clean Sweep," a lengthy investigation aimed at curbing drug use and sales in the county.

Police say all eight suspects were dealing either cocaine or heroin.

"For those folks who are dealing drugs in Bath or have in the past six months or so, be on the lookout," said Brooks Baker, Steuben County District Attorney. "Now would be a good time to close up shop and get out of town because we are looking for you. We will find you and you'll join your co-defendants."

Police say they conducted a similar effort last summer in Hornell that helped quiet down drug sales.
