BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Two suspects are at large following a shooting in Binghamton Monday.

Police say the victim was shot near the area of 150 Moeller Street while driving a red BMW SUV.

He then went into an apartment, where he collapsed.

The shooters sped off on motorcycles and were involved in a brief chase with police, but got away.

Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski says it’s believed the victim knew the suspects.

He says this was not a random act, therefore public safety is not at risk.

"No matter where you live or what you do, you're cautious, especially if you hear gunshots but in this particular case, we believe the victim was targeted. It's our understanding there was some type of altercation or argument before the shots were fired," said Zikuski.

Officials say the victim is conscious at a nearby hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
