An Elmira man was sentenced to more than two decades in prison Monday.

The Chemung County district attorney says 42-year-old Willie Jenkins will spend 23 years in prison for shooting a man outside the 7-11 on Davis Street back in April.

Jenkins was convicted of first-degree assault, criminal use of a firearm and three counts of weapons possession.

Jenkins also faces charges in a separate case.

He and another man are accused of stabbing and killing a victim outside Gush's Thirsty Bear Bar on East Washington Avenue last summer.

The DA expects that case to go to trial this year.
