SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A Syracuse man faces federal charges of threatening the life of Wayne County Representative John Katko.

Patrick Angelo, 28, of Syracuse is accused of leaving a threatening voicemail at Katko's Washington D.C. office on October 19.

In the message, Angelo allegedly threatened to kill the congressman and his family if he didn't support net neutrality.

If convicted, the charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Angelo appeared in federal court Wednesday.

He is being held before a detention hearing, which is set for Friday afternoon.
