ELMIRA, N.Y. — The teen mother accused of abandoning her baby in Elmira is expected back in court on Friday.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old Harriette Hoyt left her 8-month-old daughter outside in a trash bag on Walnut Street back in August.

The baby was found alive and placed in foster care.

Hoyt is charged with second-degree attempted murder, reckless endangerment and abandonment of a child.

She did undergo a mental evaluation, the results of which were turned over to the defense team at Hoyt's last court appearance.

Hoyt is due back in Chemung County Court at 9 a.m.
