Onondaga County will soon have new leadership for the firs time in 11 years. The county legislature voted 15-to-2 last week to have Ryan McMahon become the interim county executive. The seat is open because Joanie Mahonie is stepping down to oversee SUNY ESF and SUNY Upstate Medical University, both colleges dealing with controversy recently. McMahon, a Republican, has been chairman of the legislature since 2012. Fun fact: no Democrat has ever been Onondaga County executive. Ryan McMahon joins us from the Syracuse newsroom to talk about taking on the role of county executive.
