The state Assembly this week passed a package of bills aimed at expanding voting opportunities. Legislation includes allowing for early voting, seven days leading up to the election day. Also, the "Voter Enfranchisement Modernization Act" would streamline the registration process and make it easier to register to vote online. And, a bill that would cut off unlimited spending through limited liability companies, or what's known as the LLC loophole. Many of these measures have a tough time passing in a Republican-led state Senate though. Long Island Assemblyman Charles Lavine, chair of the Committee on Election Law, joins us to discuss.
