Governor Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio have been feuding for years over what resources the city does and does not get from the state. They have fought over funding for after school programs, charters, transportation, public housing, you name it. And now, the head of one city agency is accusing the governor of making it harder to protect children. The executive budget included a cap on state funding for child welfare services in New York City. But Administration for Children's Services Commissioner David Hansell says that actually translates to a cut in funding at a time when the agency has been trying to reduce worker caseloads and increase oversight. Commissioner Hansell joins us to explain why he reached out directly to Cuomo's office about the issue.
