ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Tyrod Taylor has spent his tenure as Bills quarterback enduring under center while his wide receiver corps struggled through injuries. Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin missed 31 games combined during his first two seasons here.

Jordan Matthews is the latest to miss time, out with a thumb injury as the Bills face a Bengals defense that's 3rd ranked against the pass.

“I have to go out there and make plays with whoever’s out there," said Taylor. "Like I said, I have confidence in those guys in the receiver room. Guys are willing to step up and take the challenge. Yes, we miss Jordan, but it’s not going to be the end of the world either. He’ll be back and we’ll be better as a unit.”

Matthews' absence is another opportunity for Zay Jones to step up. With just four catches on 17 targets, the rookie hears the outside criticism, but says his confidence is actually on the rise.

"I asked people, 'did you know who I was my freshman year of college?' Usually the response is no," said Jones, drafted in the 2nd round by Buffalo. "It took time for me to develop and become one of the best. I know I’m going to play in this league for a long time and I know I’m going to do well in this league. I’ve got great support around me."

"I told him, like, even nine years, eight years in the league, there’s times where I start to pace if I’m not playing well because the expectation level is so high," said LeSean McCoy. "Certain players, they don’t feel like that. Certain players have a solid game, and they’re content with that. Good thing with Zay, he’s not like that. We share that same passion."
