Flooding made for a difficult commute for many drivers around Raleigh Tuesday morning. At one point, the National Weather Service declared a Flash Flood Emergency for Wake County. Over 8" of rain has fallen in parts of Raleigh since Sunday.
Crabtree Creek, a typical problem spot after heavy rain, caused flooding around Crabtree Valley Mall, Wake Forest Road, and Atlantic Avenue.
Flooding was not confined to just Raleigh. Numerous roads closures with some stranded cars were reported in Wilson. An apartment complex flooded in Chapel Hill and at least one water rescue was reported in Apex.
Even though the rain is tapering off for the afternoon hours, it will take a while for flood waters to recede. Road closures around the Triangle may continue through the afternoon.
