RALEIGH—The Triangle territory takes a top five spot in a new national report released Wednesday.

U.S. News and World Report named Raleigh-Durham as the fourth best place to live in the country, based on factors like desirability, value, job market, quality of life and net migration.

"Having a great job and a great house, is quite a draw,” said Vernessa Roberts, Vice President of Communications with the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

The report says the area attracts nearly 80 new residents a day and Roberts says the multiple nationally-ranked Triangle schools helps keep them in the area.

"The education systems we have post-secondary, are incredibly important. What happens a lot of times, is people who went to college here, stay here,” she said.

Some residents who work closely with city leaders say Raleigh-Durham attracts new people because of the vast opportunities.

"I think we have a little something for everybody, we are a community that's very diverse and I think that's something that is necessary for positive, sustainable growth,” said Lauren Dickens, a board member with the City of Raleigh Appearance Commission.

With the amount of construction in the Triangle, Roberts predicts the growth to continue beyond the next 20 years.

"I don't see it stopping any time soon. I think as part of being part of the community, what's really important is to prepare for the growth that's coming so that the great quality of life we have now, we still want then,” she said.
