NASHVILLE, TN – Warren Foegele scored a goal and assisted on another, while goaltender Scott Darling stopped 28 of 29 Nashville shots, as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Predators 4-1 on Tuesday night.

The Hurricanes improve to 4-0 in the pre-season, but this win may have been their best of the exhibition schedule.  The Hurricanes playing a lineup of mostly prospects, against a Predators group comprised of many of their NHL regulars.

"That's the reality of it. Some of these guys bought themselves another day, as far as I'm concerned," Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour told Hurricanes.com. "[Hard work] is what it's all about. That's the way our foundation needs to be built. Everyone has to buy into it if we're going to have any success."

Nine different players found their way onto the score sheet, with Foegele’s two points and Valentin Zykov added a pair of helpers.  Brett Pesce, Trevor Van Riemsdyk, and Brock McGinn each added a goal in the victory.

There is a growing sense that Foegele may earn a roster spot on opening night.  He has notched five points through the first four games (one goal, four assists), and his overall play has been noticed by Brind’Amour.

"He's what we want in a Hurricane," Brind'Amour said. "You want good kids, number one, and then you want them to play their butt off. They don't leave anything left in the tank. That's what we want."

Goaltender Scott Darling played the entire game, and looked sharp in the nets.  Darling’s off-season workout regimen seems to be paying dividends, and as he continues to stop pucks, his confidence continues to grow.

"I just feel stronger and more in control," Darling said. "As everyone has talked about, I've done a lot of different workouts this summer. I think Pilates helped me a lot."

The Hurricanes will face the Washington Capitals on the road this Friday, before wrapping up the exhibition schedule on Sunday, when Nashville heads to Raleigh.

The regular season opens October 4th, against the New York Islanders in Raleigh.
