CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The North Carolina Tar Heels had to deal with an unexpected bye week due to Hurricane Florence slamming its way through the Carolinas this past weekend. The Tar Heels were scheduled to host nationally-ranked UCF this past Saturday in their 2018 home opener. Head Coach Larry Fedora says that they are still vying their options of making up that date with a 12th game on the schedule.

Carolina will now prepare for their ACC opener with Pittsburgh this upcoming Saturday. The Heels are 0-2 on the season after a road defeat at Cal and their upset to ECU the following week. This unplanned bye week may be a blessing in disguise for the Heels who were able to take advantage of the off time in hopes of earning their first victory of the year.

Fedora said, "It's a break, an unforeseen break, and we've got to turn it into a positive. We've enabled some guys to maybe get healed up and get some extra rest as we go into the rest of the season."

Pittsburgh is coming off their ACC opener where they shocked Georgia Tech with a 24-19 victory. They'll come to Chapel Hill with a 2-1 overall record. Their one defeat came at the hands of #10 Penn State. Kickoff at Kenan Memorial Stadium is slated for 12:20.
