WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest held their first official scrimmage at BB&T Field on Saturday.

Freshman quarterback Sam Harman and Jamie Newman are battling it out for the starting position due to the three game suspension levied upon former starting quarterback Kendal Hinton.

Hartman completed 16 of 25 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown while Newman was 13 of 17 for 70 yards. Although they're both vying for the same spot, they are there to support and complement each other throughout camp.

Newman says, "I think we're both doing a great job of carrying ourselves as a 1st team quarterback. You know, great relationships with running backs and our center as well as our receivers. We're doing a great job in the film room trying to help each other out as well as just trying to get better."
