After joining Spectrum News 1 in Charlotte in 2017, Reuben transferred to Washington, D.C. in 2021. He now covers politics and federal government for North Carolina and the national Spectrum News audience.

Reuben is a Virginia native and is energized by meeting people he likely wouldn’t meet if he weren’t a reporter. Telling original stories that result in positive changes and shining a light on people doing great things is what inspires him to come to work every day.

He is an Emmy winner for his work reporting on the impact of processing untested rape kits in North Carolina. When asked about the most meaningful story he’s ever covered, Reuben recalls the bravery of two women he interviewed who spoke about being sexually assaulted in Charlotte by a man 25 years apart. The man was arrested because police tested the sexual assault kits and DNA technology confirmed his involvement in eight cases. This story underlined the impact of testing sexual assault kits.

When he’s not at work, you can find Reuben playing tennis or golf, running, trying new restaurants, and rooting on his favorite college basketball teams (go George Mason Patriots and UVA Hoos!).
