NORTH CAROLINA -- The North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership and Spectrum News have teamed up to broadcast the Hometown Debate Series. The four-part debate series will take place in late September and early October, addressing four of the six proposed amendments to the NC state Constitution.

The debates will be taped and broadcast by Spectrum News and will air in their entirety on www.spectrumlocalnews.com , as well as an abbreviated version on, In Focus with Loretta Boniti, Sundays at 11:30 a.m and 8:30 p.m.

If you are interested in attending the debates, they are free and open to the public and will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the following locations:

-Tuesday, Sept. 18 - Gastonia Conference Center, 145 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Gastonia

o   Proposed amendment to lower the state income tax rate

-Tuesday, Sept. 25 - Meroney Theatre, 213 S. Main St., Salisbury

o   Proposed amendment to change process to fill judiciary vacancies

-Wednesday, Oct. 3 - Turnage Theatre, 150 W. Main St., Washington

o   Proposed amendment to require voters to present a picture ID before voting

-Tuesday, Oct. 9 - Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton

o   Proposed amendment to increase legislative control over elections & ethics board appointments
